dc.description.abstract | At the beginning of the 19th century, the diary played a central role in the development of subjective sensitivity and in the founding of identity. The diary is a tool for introspection and self-knowledge. Writing for yourself allows you to grasp certain well-anchored psychological mechanisms and to learn about yourself and others. During this period Benjamin Constant sought to identify – authenticate – the interior indications of his own destiny. His diary reveals the frontiers of self-knowledge. | |
