| dc.description.abstract | This essay outlines the reception of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein in terms of translations of the text and accompanying paratexts for the Bulgarian editions in 1986 and 2012. With two translations into Bulgarian, Zhechka Georgieva’s (1981, reprinted in 1986) and Zhana Toteva’s (2012) there is room to compare and contrast lexical and grammatical choices. In addition, the rendering of the title, the presence or absence of an epigraph, the explanatory notes, and Georgi Tsankov’s critical introduction to the 1986 publication add to the overall package of text and paratexts. | |
